Coolkiid is a South African artist from the Eastern Cape, raised in Welkom, Free State. Known for his soulful sound and authentic storytelling, he has worked with artists including Tyler ICU, Cassper Nyovest, Busta 929, Zuma, Aubrey Qwana, King Monada and Naledi Aphiwe.
Coolkiid is a South African recording artist and songwriter born in the Eastern Cape and raised in Welkom, Free State. His musical journey began at a young age, with his passion for music developing from his teenage years. He started recording his own compositions in 2013 and has continued to build his career through authentic storytelling, soulful melodies and a sound rooted in contemporary South African music. In 2016, one of Coolkiid’s songs gained significant attention in the Free State, opening doors to bookings, interviews and further opportunities within the music industry. His growing presence and catalogue eventually led to major industry opportunities, including securing a major record deal with Sony Music, marking an important milestone in his professional music career. Coolkiid has collaborated with some of South Africa’s recognised artists and producers, including Cassper Nyovest, Busta 929, Zuma of Amaroto, Aubrey Qwana, Tyler ICU, King Monada and Naledi Aphiwe. His catalogue includes the successful songs “Inhliziyo” and “Ingelosi,” with “Inhliziyo” achieving Platinum status through RiSA and “Ingelosi” achieving Gold status. He also released the EP “Impilo Yo Thando,” produced by Alie Keyz and featuring King Monada, further showcasing his ability to blend heartfelt songwriting with modern South African sounds. Coolkiid’s music is driven by emotion, real life experiences and the desire to create songs that people can relate to. From his early beginnings in Welkom to major-label opportunities and collaborations with established names in the South African music industry, Coolkiid continues to build his legacy while creating music with lasting impact for audiences across South Africa and beyond.
