The Gentlemen was formed in early 2017 in Sofia, Bulgaria. From the start, the band committed to crafting original music, rather than doing covers — driven by a desire to create a unique voice on the Bulgarian scene. Many of the members were students at the national film and theatre university (NATFIZ), which gave the band a creative, arts-oriented spirit. Their style is rooted in a mix of ska / punk, but over time they have expanded their sound palette to include funk, rock-and-roll, blues and even occasional light-hearted / humorous songs — a testament to their flexibility and willingness to experiment. The band released their first recording, the single „Парашутка“ (“Parashutka”), soon after forming — accompanied by a music video. In February 2022, The Gentlemen released their long-awaited debut album The Very Best, which features 9 tracks and showcases the band’s stylistic range — from funk and rock-and-roll to blues and more playful tunes. The album was described as a “live album, recorded before several years,” reflecting a maturity and readiness to present their best work to the public. Because of their honest, live-oriented approach and commitment to original songs, their discography stands as a representation of who they are — not just as performers, but as genuine songwriters and musicians.
