Sorrowsight is a gothic death/doom metal band from Odesa, Ukraine, blending melancholic atmospheres with crushing heaviness and cinematic depth. Founded in 2019 by guitarist Pavlo Korovchuk and vocalist Mariia Diachenko, the band has developed a distinctive sound that merges aggressive riffs, extreme female vocals, and expressive violin melodies into a dark and immersive sonic experience. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Paradise Lost, Fleshgod Apocalypse, and Ne Obliviscaris, Sorrowsight combines elements of gothic, death doom, and symphonic death metal into a sound that balances brutality and atmosphere. Following the release of their debut album Essence of Existence in 2024 — created during the turmoil of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine — the band continued to evolve both musically and conceptually. Their upcoming album Share My Despair marks a new chapter, expanding further into symphonic death metal with orchestral arrangements, dynamic compositions, and a darker, more cinematic scope. The album explores themes of mortality, inner collapse, human nature, and existential despair, combining raw intensity with emotional depth. Created under extraordinary circumstances, the album was recorded remotely across multiple countries, reflecting both the challenges faced by the band and their commitment to artistic expression. Despite distance, lineup changes, and the ongoing war in Ukraine, Sorrowsight has remained dedicated to forging a powerful and evolving identity — delivering music that is both devastating and deeply atmospheric.
